Inventor Tutorial for the iDoor – 27 – Creating the Solid Bodies – The Panel
Rename the Solid Body Right_Stile, and the Extrusion RightStileExt. Save the file. The left stile is produced exactly the same with one importent differance. This time you do not have to click the New solid button to be able to create the solid as it will create a solid that is added to the last one if you dont. make sure you click the New solid button during the extrusion process (you will ess the right stile outlined in that dashed magents until you click the New solid button). the part should now look like this…
Now go to the Solid Bodies folder and right click on the bodies just made and turn off their visibility. Turn off the visibility of both visible sketches as well. Turn on the Panel Profile sketch.
Hit the E key to start the extrusion process. leave the Extents box at Distance, and click the arrow to the right of the default 1 in in the box below the extents drop-down. Select List parameters, and choose Panel Width from the list. Add the division symbol and a 2 after the parameter the get: Panel Width / 2. You again will need to select the New solid to enable the OK button, which you should now click.
Do not turn the panel sketch back on, you are done with it. rename the Solid Body Panel, and the extrusion PanelExt. turn on the visibility of the Panel Cutter Sketch, and hit the E key. Change the Extents to All, and the extrude type to Cut (the preview will change to red as shown below) if the extrusion goes the wrong way, the three buttons below the Extents can change it to the correct one (in this case, it will be one of the first two as the third one is for a bidirectional extrude). Click OK to accept. Save the part.
Change the name of this cut extrusion to PanelCut. The part should now look like the image to the right.
