Inventor Tutorial for the iDoor – 19 – The Panel Cutter Sketch – Continued

The plane created on the last page is shown below…

Inventor Tutorial iDoor Page Nineteen Image 01 - New Plane

Inventor Tutorial iDoor Page Nineteen Image 02 - Project GeometryRename the plane you just made to Panel Cutter Plane, and create a sketch on it, then rename the sketch Panel Cutter. Get the Project Geometry tool from the Draw Panel , and project the same end of the line used to create the plane. With this point projected into the sketch, turn off the visibility of the Panel Cutter Plane, and grab the Line tool and draw two line segments tangential to the panel sketch originating at the point just created. The resulting lines should look similar to the image below. Again, make sure the Horizontal constraint Glyph is visible before finishing lines.

The status bar should note that 2 dimensions are needed, and we will add them now. The closest line (the highlighted one in the picture above) gets the Panel_Tongue_Width parameter, then add a dimension between the two endpoints of the lines as shown below, and give this dimension the Panel_Reveal parameter from the parameters drop down.

The image to the right shows the compleated lines. The status bar should report the sketch as being fully constrained.
