Inventor Tutorial for the iDoor – 13 – Yet More Sketching the Raised Panel

Grab the Coincedent constraint tool from the upper row of the Constraints panel, and hover your mouse over the center of the line until the green dot appears, then click. Finish this constraint by clicking on the nearby point.

You have now constrained the center of the line to the point, and the line will turn blue as is shown below. Do the same with the other line.

Now get the Equal constraint, and click on the lower line (the one shown above) then on the upper line to apply an Equal constraint to the lines which will make them equal lengths. Test the constraint by grabbing the end of ether line and pull it up and down. Both lines will resize at the same time. the status bar will now show that only one dimension is needed, and we will add that dimension to the lower line. Get the General Dimension tool and click the lower line, drag over to one side and click again to place the dimension, and select the Panel_Groove_Thickness from the parameter drop-down list. Click the check mark to complete. Both lines will now be 1/4″ tall, and the status bar will report the sketch as being fully constrained.

Turn off the visibility of the Rails Profiles sketch for a little clarity, then grab the Line tool and draw a line starting at the bottom of the line shown in the image above towards the other line as shown below. make sure you see the Vertical constraint Glyph before clicking, and go about a third of the way as shown below.
