Inventor Tutorial for Information Errors – Creating The Error
Your Browser bar should now look similar to the one in the image to the left. The names of the sketches and planes do not matter.
Now create the error by right clicking on the Cope and Stick block in the Block folder, and select Break Link With Base Sketch Block.
You will need to do a local update to clear the red lightning bolt…
Now comes the detective work. Drag the EOP (End of Part) up until it is just below the first instance of Information Errors. You do not necessarily have to roll up the EOP on this model, but when working in a large model with errors, doing so will remove a lot of features from memory, and make it easier to work on the error…..and if a model has serious errors, this may be the only way it can be worked on.
As you can see, once rolled up, everything created after the first plane disappears. The first thing I would check on this would be to see if the plane needed to be redefined. Right click on the plane in the Browser Bar and choose Redefine Feature, then go through the same steps you went through to create the plane in the first place, grab the Plane tool, select the line, then select the end point of the line. Nothing happens, which rules out the the definition of the plane….which rules out the plane as the problem.
So I roll up the EOP past the first plane to the first Sketch, which has no geometry other than the sketch block, so double click the sketch block to enter the Edit Sketch Block mode….
